This morning Dutch announced she was cooking breakfast in her play kitchen, and Cook suggested that she cook us "carrot-and-mushroom melange."* (She has some wooden mushrooms and carrots that figure centrally in most of her cooking.) She said scornfully "no, that's a French word. I won't make THAT."
* He said it with an accent, but I don't know how to make my keyboard generate it...
