Today Dutch started two savings jars - one is labeled "collage" and the other is labeled "horse camp" (by which she means a week at a sleep-away horseback-riding camp in summer 2013).*

Dutch is planning to be a wildlife biologist. Four years at a public university (in-state tuition) is likely to cost something like $40K/year by the time she gets there. I think it's probably a good idea for her to start saving.**
