We love that series too! We also got hooked on Luther. A friend just moved to London and confirmed that television there is way better than here...
I loved the actors in Sherlock, but the series didn't grow on me as much as I'd hoped. I fell hard for Luther, though, especially the first season. I agree that British television is generally better, though they really break my heart with their six-episode seasons and year-long hiatuses.
